There are many methods used to train dogs to stop barking, but I firmly believe that something like the gentle spray citronella bark collar you can buy online is the best solution.

I remember using buckets of water, and spraying with the garden hose, when I trained my first dog 35 years ago.  

It was a pain to try and catch my dog barking red-handed, with a bucket of water, and the water hose can be just as difficult.
